Mitzvah Day in Newport
About 250 members of Temple Bat Yahm in Newport Beach will spring into action Sunday as part of the temple’s second annual mitzvah day, in which congregation members join together to do good deeds. Participants will volunteer for 15 community projects to benefit nonprofit organizations.
Projects include preparing lunch at the Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter in Costa Mesa, gathering crops for Orange County Harvest and delivering food to families for Friends in Service to Humanity.
They will also serve Heritage Pointe, a home for the elderly; the Friendship Shelter of Laguna, Pomona School in Costa Mesa and Share Our Selves, a charity in Costa Mesa. Information: (714) 644-1999.
