‘Rescue 77,’ Debuting on WB, Uses Tried-But-True Formula

Share

“Get me some pneumatic support! He’s not breathing!” Sound familiar?

Some series concepts are handed down from TV generation to TV generation like frayed clothes. One underpins “Rescue 77,” the derivative new WB hour about a crack team of tender-hearted but kick-tail Los Angeles paramedics who will be in your face if you get in their way.

Meet Bell (Victor Browne), Lobo (Christian Kane) and Ryan (Marjorie (Monaghan). The boss, who’s tough but compassionate, is Cap (Richard Roundtree).

If you haven’t seen this type of series, you might like it: some romance, some rescues, some danger and a crisis for Ryan, who’s returned to the unit after six weeks’ stress leave, intent on proving to her colleagues that she won’t crack under pressure. She’s immediately tested.

On the other hand, if you haven’t seen this type of series, what planet have you been living on?

“Rescue 77” premieres tonight at 9 on WB. The network has rated it TVPG-LV (may be unsuitable for young children with additional advisories for coarse language and violence).
