Esther Reagin; Longtime Ventura County Resident
Esther Reagin died Saturday at her home in Ventura. She was 93.
Reagin was born April 3, 1905, in Charleston, Ill., and was a 44-year Ventura County resident.
Reagin, who was called “Grandma” by all her family, was a foster grandparent for 12 years for patients at the now-closed Camarillo State Hospital.
In her free time, she played bingo at St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura.
Reagin is survived by three sons, Danny Reagin of San Lorenzo, Jerry Reagin of Castro Valley and Kenneth Reagin of Fresno; two daughters, Arline Bray of Mattoon, Ill., and Barbara Bryan; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura. A funeral will be held later in Mattoon, Ill., with burial to follow at Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon.
