FULLERTON
In recognition of its efforts to help youth exiting the foster care system go onto college, Cal State Fullerton’s Guardian Scholars program was recently awarded $50,000 from Edison International. The gift is part of Edison’s New Era Award for Excellence in Higher Education program, which encourages efforts to motivate and prepare at-risk students for higher education.
Guardian Scholars was launched last fall in collaboration with the Orangewood Children’s Foundation. In addition to funding an additional counseling position, the Edison award will enable eligible at-risk high school students to take part in two university programs that provide supplemental assistance in mathematics and language skills.
