Oregon Routs Wyoming

A.D. Smith and Terik Brown scored 22 points apiece as Oregon defeated Wyoming, 93-72, in a second-round game of the National Invitation Tournament on Monday night at Eugene, Ore.

Oregon (18-11) will play at Texas Christian in the quarterfinals Wednesday night.

Oregon led by 21 at the half and quickly stretched it to 26 on a three-pointer by Brown with 17:46 to play. Wyoming didn’t get closer than 19 the rest of the way. Oregon’s biggest lead was 35 after a bank shot by reserve center Chris Christofferson made the score 84-49 with 6:33 left.

Anthony Blakes scored 17 for the Cowboys (18-10). Ugo Udezue, Wyoming’s leading scorer at 20.8, was held to 13 points on four-for-15 shooting.

Xavier 87, Wake Forest 76--Lenny Brown scored 19 points and triggered a three-point barrage that carried the Musketeers at Cincinnati, Ohio.

Xavier (23-10) made a school-record 13 three-pointers on 24 attempts against Wake Forest’s packed-in defense. Brown, who holds Xavier’s career and season records for three-pointers, made five for eight from three-point range as the Musketeers remained unbeaten in 14 home games this season.

James Posey led Xavier with 23 points, 11 of them from the foul line.

Robert O’Kelley scored a career-high 36 points for Wake Forest (17-14), going 13 for 22 from the field.

Princeton 61, North Carolina State 58--Chris Young scored a career-high 24 points and reserve C.J. Chapman made three key three-pointers for the Tigers at Raleigh, N.C..

Princeton (22-7), now 7-1 all-time in the NIT, advanced to the third round against Xavier.

Chapman came off the bench to score nine points after being held scoreless in his previous six games.

Anthony Grundy led North Carolina State (19-14) with 21 points.

Texas Christian 101, Nebraska 89--Prince Fowler sparked an 18-4 run down the stretch when Texas Christian’s best player was on the bench with four fouls, leading the Horned Frogs at Fort Worth, Texas.

Nebraska (20-13) led, 43-41, at halftime, and the score was tied at 55-55 when Lee Nailon left after being whistled for his fourth foul 4:58 into the second half.

Texas Christian (21-10) seized the momentum at that point, and by the time Nailon returned with 2:26 left in the game, Texas Christian was on top, 88-77.

Butler 75, Old Dominion 62--Rylan Hainje and Thomas Jackson scored 15 points apiece for Butler at Indianapolis.

Butler(22-9) overcame a 32-29 deficit by scoring the first seven points of the second half.

Old Dominion (25-9) saw Butler open a 60-48 lead on a layup by Jackson, who consistently penetrated Old Dominion’s defense for easy baskets.
