The city’s interim police chief formally took office Monday but has no plans for a long stay. “I’m just here until they get somebody else on board,” said Michael R. McCrary, the former police chief of Signal Hill. McCrary replaced outgoing Chief Michael J. Skogh, who left last week to head the Gardena Police Department. A search for a permanent replacement is underway.
