‘Sister’ Is Still Special

Share

Kenneth Turan’s review of “The Other Sister” misses the point (“Emotionally Calculating ‘Other Sister’ Tips Its Hand,” Feb. 26). While the movie does border on sentimentality, its depiction of people with developmental disabilities is generally positive and uplifting. As the parent of an adult with similar special needs, I found the performances by Juliette Lewis and Giovanni Ribisi to be both genuine and sensitive.

What the movie failed to mention was that help in the form of funding and counseling is available for people with developmental delays. Contact the nearest Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled for more information.
