A man has been arrested in connection with a January home invasion robbery during which a Simi Valley resident was pistol whipped before he jumped out a second-floor window to flee, police said Friday.

Gilbert Hernandez, 20, of Simi Valley was arrested Thursday on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and burglary. He remained jailed Friday night on $100,000 bail, a deputy said.

A second suspect, Daniel Henderson, 19, also of Simi Valley was arrested a few days after the incident, police said. He has pleaded not guilty to similar charges and remains free on bail.

Authorities believe that on the afternoon of Jan. 28, the suspects forced their way into a home in the 400 block of Lazybrook Court in Simi Valley and attacked a 20-year-old man who lives there.

To avoid being tied up, the victim jumped out the closed window and ran, authorities said. Police would not identify the man but said he was treated for deep cuts on his head.

Simi Valley Police Sgt. Andy McCluskey said the victim had been an acquaintance of the suspects. The sergeant said he did not know what had been taken from the home.
