Dee Dee Myers, President Clinton’s former press secretary, was named Friday to the board that runs the California State University system.

Gov. Gray Davis appointed Myers, 37, of Los Angeles, to the Cal State Board of Trustees. The board oversees the Cal State system, which has 22 campuses and 270,000 students.

Board members do not receive a salary, but are paid for expenses.

Myers was the president’s press secretary from 1993 until 1994. She was the first woman and the youngest person to hold the job. She has been a contributing editor for Vanity Fair magazine since 1995.
