DMV Sting

Share

According to The Times, 27 people were arrested at the Van Nuys Department of Motor Vehicles office in a three-day period for submitting fraudulent documents (“27 Arrested in Fraud Sting at Area DMV Office,” April 23).

It would seem that if these were typical days at any number of DMV offices, a larger investigation would be warranted to see if many more have obtained licenses under similar circumstances.

Even more troubling is that since registration to vote now also can be done concurrently at the same locations, a substantial number of people may have gained the right to vote by illegal means. A larger investigation is warranted to see if this is the case. To circumvent any charges of racism against the authorities, maybe some of our Mexican American political leaders could take the lead in seeing if this is the case.
