The UC Irvine Alumni Assn. will honor 16 alumni, faculty, staff, students and community members who have made outstanding contributions to the campus and community. The 29th annual Lauds & Laurels Awards ceremony is being held Thursday. The top award, the Extraordinarius, will be presented to Thomas Tierney, chairman of the UCI Foundation, and his wife, Elizabeth, who have committed many years of service to the university community. The Tierneys have also provided scholarships for the School of Humanities and the School of the Arts.
