Mail a Mother Could Love

Share

There’s something about mothers that brings out the writer in many of us. Or so it seemed when The Times asked readers to let us know who’s the world’s greatest mom. Almost 500 of you responded--so many, in fact, that we’re running some of the letters Friday and more on Sunday.

Here’s a sample of what we received:

“Mother is like the woman in ‘The Joy Luck Club’ who runs from enemy soldiers with twin daughters in two baskets, with a major difference--she didn’t leave us behind. Throughout her life, she has taught us never to underestimate the power of faith.”

Ramona Pei, Irvine

“When I feel down, you take me shopping!”

Erica Matulich, 12, Huntington Beach

“Mary ‘Mam Mam’ Kelly always blessed us on the forehead when we were leaving for school. She loves each of us 12 as if we were her only child.”
