* Wayne L. Wilson; Dump-Truck Business Owner
Longtime Valley resident Wayne L. Wilson, an independent dump-truck operator for more than 30 years, died Sunday at his home in Palmdale. He was 84.
Born in Salt Lake City, Wilson moved to Burbank in 1941 to work at Aerojet on the development of the first fanjet engine. In 1948, he moved to Encino and started a dump-truck business that was involved in construction projects throughout the Valley until Wilson’s retirement in 1980.
Wilson, a lifelong automobile enthusiast, spent much of his retirement traveling by car around the United States.
His wife of 63 years, Eva, a prominent Valley peace activist during the Vietnam War, died in October. He is survived by sons Wayne C. Wilson of Auburn, Calif., and Gary Wilson of Clitheroe, England; daughters Jacquelyn Smith and Cecilia Rogers of Carmel, Linda Marlow of Palmdale and Cynthia Wilson of Ft. Bragg, Calif.; sister June McNees of Rindge, N.H.; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale.
