If efforts stay on schedule, Midbury Street, adjacent to Brea but in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, will become part of the city in six months, officials said. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will vote Tuesday on whether to join Orange County and Brea in establishing a joint-powers authority to oversee the annexation. The board also will vote on contributing $40,000 for street improvements to the two-block neighborhood.

Midbury residents lobbied to become a part of Brea more than a year ago when Los Angeles officials told them they would not be receiving services from Brea’s police and fire departments. The neighborhood is served by Los Angeles County sheriff and fire departments, which are stationed farther away than those in Brea.
