The City Council will meet in closed session Tuesday to figure out how to deal with a possible legal battle with its school district over redevelopment funds that school officials believe the district is owed. City officials said they do not know how to respond to the idea that they may be slapped with a lawsuit by Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified without knowing what the school district’s next move will be. Mark Huebsch, the attorney representing the district, and school officials have declined comment. City Atty. Leonard Hampel has said the school district has not provided any communication to the city about initiating legal action.

The city learned last week that school district officials met in closed session with attorneys to talk about the possibility that the district may be entitled to unclaimed redevelopment funds from projects dating back as far as 10 years. The council will meet in closed session at 5:30 p.m., then reconvene for its regular meeting at 7 p.m., in chambers, 4845 Casa Loma Ave.
