The City Council on Tuesday discussed actions it could take that would better serve the senior community. More than 32% of residents will be 55 or older by 2020, according to a city report. Council members agreed to begin working to improve housing and transportation for senior citizens, and to look into adjusting timers on crosswalk signals that flash red before seniors can cross the street. City staff is working on those items that can be made into new policies immediately, Mayor Marty Simonoff said.
