Four people were arrested outside a Newbury Park restaurant after authorities found 14 pounds of high-quality methamphetamine in their vehicles, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.

The arrests were made about 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 2800 block of Camino Dos Rios.

Sheriff’s officials valued the drugs at $640,000.

A team of narcotics agents from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Agency and Simi Valley Police Department began the investigation two months ago after receiving a tip that the suspects were major suppliers for drugs dealers in eastern Ventura County, authorities said.

Officers watched the four men allegedly conduct a drug deal in the restaurant’s parking lot.

Los Angeles residents Eduardo Montes Lucatero, 26, Jose Anthony Tellez, 39, and Maria Isabel Prieto, 25, were each jailed on suspicion of selling and possessing drugs and criminal conspiracy. Bail for each was set at $300,000.

Jose Luis Vidal, 25, of Canoga Park was jailed on the same charges, but his bail was set at $500,000.

It was unclear why Vidal’s bail was higher.
