Camarillo Woman Receives Scholarship
* Alyssa Guthrie of Camarillo received Westmont College’s Dorothy Westra Scholarship. Guthrie, a freshman, is an arts major at the Santa Barbara college. The $2,000 award is given each year “to a woman who exhibits talent in and dedication to the creative and performing arts.”
Ventura College Math Teacher Honored
* Ventura College math instructor Lisa Anderson was named the 1998-99 Extended Opportunity Programs and Services Instructor of the Year. Anderson was honored for “enhancing self-esteem and fostering student academic development and motivation for our students,” said Paula Munoz, the college’s program coordinator.
