California AIDS Ride needs cyclists to pedal 560 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles from June 6 to 12. Averaging about 80 miles a day, riders will raise more than $8 million for services for people with HIV/AIDS, the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. * San Clemente Hospital & Medical Center’s auxiliary is seeking volunteers as patient companions, patient ambulators, in the gift shop, in medical records and in outpatient physical therapy. * Muscular Dystrophy Assn. needs people to volunteer Aug. 1 to 7 as counselors at the MDA summer camp in Wrightwood. Counselors must be at least 16 and able to lift a child. They will be asked to push wheelchairs, assist with grooming, dressing and feeding, and help kids participate in activities such as swimming, horseback riding, arts and crafts and canoeing.
