Andrea Arciniega; Paralegal for County

Ventura resident Andrea Marie Arciniega, a paralegal who worked for the Ventura County district attorney’s fraud unit, died Saturday at UCLA Medical Center after a long illness. She was 31.

Born Sept. 1, 1967, in Ventura, she was a county resident most of her life. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara and Ventura College of Law.

Diagnosed with lupus during her senior year at UCSB, she was unable to take the bar exam twice because of her illness.

“There were no boundaries for her,” said her sister, Rosemary. “She was diagnosed 10 years ago this month, and even though she had bad arthritis, she just took all her finals. She set the mood for the family.”

She enjoyed walking on the beach, crafts, kids, gardening and flowers.

In addition to Rosemary, she is survived by her parents, Joe and Modesta, of Ventura; sisters Annie Vickery, Samantha Carillo and Amanda Carillo, all of Ventura; and her grandfather, Rupert Q. Barron of Ventura.

Visitation will be at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, with a recitation of the rosary afterward. A funeral mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Ventura.

Burial will be at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.

Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
