The city has removed crossing guards at two intersections, saying very few children use the safety service there when walking to or from school. The City Council voted last week to end the service at the intersections of Yorba Linda Boulevard and Ohio Street and of Fairmont Boulevard and Village Center Drive. There have been no complaints from parents, said Roy Stephenson, the city’s public works director.

School district officials, saying they know the city makes children’s safety a priority, also did not oppose removing the crossing guards, said Kim Stallings, an assistant superintendent of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.
