A proposal that would require the city to contribute to retirement benefit increases for the sheriff’s-coroner’s staff is on the agenda for tonight’s City Council session. The plan would be an amendment to the annual contract under which the city receives law-enforcement services from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. A new $596,000 contract is set to take effect July 1.
The amendment also would require the city to contribute to any increases in salary and benefits for deputies, lieutenants and captains, sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Tom Garner said.
The council meets at 7:30 p.m. in chambers, 17855 Santiago Blvd.
