Angry residents and beach volleyball players have to wait a little longer to find out who will be awarded a place at the 24th Street beach volleyball court. The City Council on Monday voted to continue its decision on whether to move the court to 26th Street, leave it where it is or install an additional court at 26th Street. Beachfront residents want the group of players that congregates at 24th Street to move. They say the players are monopolizing the court and the beach, making life miserable and dangerous for beachgoers and residents alike. Residents said they might sue the city if the council doesn’t relocate the court. The players contend they bring nothing but benefits to the beach.

The council will revisit the issue at its June 28 meeting. Many council members said they wanted more information about how far the court is from property lines.
