The 38th annual Adoption Guild Tennis Tournament, one of the largest such charity games in the nation, gets underway Saturday. The opening round matches will be held at the Balboa Bay Racquet Club, Newport Beach Tennis Club, the Palisades Tennis Club in Newport Beach and Racquet Club of Irvine throughout the weekend.

Proceeds will go to Holy Family Services of southern Orange County, a nondenominational agency that offers adoption placement and other aid for women with children. The tournament annually raises 30% of the budget for Holy Family Services; officials hope to raise $100,000 this year.
