Help Sought in Rossmoor Ransom Case
Orange County sheriff’s deputies on Sunday asked for help finding a man who made his way into a Rossmoor home, tied up a woman and escaped with a $5,000 ransom dropped off by her husband.
It started Friday morning, when the woman found a masked man in her house in the 12000 block of Foster Road, officials said. The intruder was about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and was wearing a baseball-style cap and gloves, the victim told sheriff’s deputies.
The intruder telephoned the woman’s husband with a $5,000 ransom demand that included a set of instructions, authorities said.
The husband did as he was told, officials said. He drove into Los Angeles County, stuffed the cash into a paper bag and then dropped the money off at a predetermined location.
The victim, identified as Myrna Peterjohn, 63, was not harmed. She freed herself about 12:45 p.m., officials said.
