Woman Dies After Being Hit by Truck
An 83-year-old Burbank woman died Sunday after she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing a street, police said.
Maria Mercedes Guillana was hit around 8:40 a.m. in the intersection of 6th Street and Angeleno Avenue, said Burbank Police Lt. Robert Giles.
After the accident, the woman was taken to County-USC Medical Center in Los Angeles with critical injuries, Giles said. She was pronounced dead several hours later.
The driver of the truck, Lilian Salazar, 23, of Burbank told police she was blinded by the morning sun and did not see the woman crossing the street, Giles said.
Salazar was not cited, and police are investigating the incident.
