Pepperdine Blanks Irvine in Soccer

Melissa Rivera scored two goals and had an assist to help Pepperdine to a 4-0 shutout of visiting UC Irvine in nonconference women’s soccer Monday.
Kristi Bissonnette and Julia Rivera also scored for Pepperdine (10-6-1).
Allison Merrick had seven saves for UC Irvine, which drops to 6-10-3.
