Officials Approve Storm Drain System

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has approved a $3.2-million contract to build a storm drain system along Platt Avenue north of Valley Circle Boulevard, Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky announced Wednesday.

County officials will supervise the installation of 9,600 feet of storm drain on portions of Aetna Street, Kenwater Avenue, Calvert Street, Le Sage Avenue, Hatteras Street and Burbank Boulevard, Yaroslavsky said.

Additional drains will run along Califa Street from Crosson Drive to Platt and on Tiara Street and Hinton Avenue.

Once the work is underway, traffic on affected streets maybe reduced to one lane. Streets may be closed to through traffic during construction hours. Local access will be maintained at all times.

The project, to be done by Miramontes Construction Co. of Industry, is to begin next month with work to be completed in June, he said.
