Three photographers offer a unique look at celebrity by turning the camera on their fellow artists and friends in “Developing the Scene,” opening Saturday at Tobey C. Moss Gallery. The exhibition details a sizable chunk of art history as notable artists from Henry Moore to Gronk are made to be subjects, not artists. English artist Basil Langton documents the longest period, from the 1930s to the 1970s, with images of Henry Moore, Thomas Hart Benton and Georgia O’Keeffe. Lou Jacobs Jr. documents the bustling L.A. art scene during 1949-1951 in images of California Modernists Lorser Feitelson, Helen Lundeberg and Stanton Macdonald-Wright; and Alan Shaffers details the contemporary Southern California art scene in his portraits of Gronk, Ed Moses and Beatrice Wood.
