Mesa Verde Teacher to Head Science Fair
A Moorpark science teacher will head up this year’s Ventura County Science Fair, County Supt. of Schools Chuck Weis announced.
Morley Cohen, who teaches science at Mesa Verde Middle School, will supervise the program April 11-13. The theme is “Science 2000--Vision of Tomorrow.”
Last year, more than 1,000 students participated in the science fair.
Cohen has brought hundreds of students to the Ventura County and California science fairs during his 19 years as a science teacher.
“I believe that a career in science is the outgrowth and ultimate application of the skills involved with the development of a science project,” Cohen said.
Cohen started teaching at Chaparral Middle School in the Moorpark Unified School District in 1987. Six years ago, he moved to Mesa Verde. Four years ago, Cohen was named State Science Fair Teacher of the Year at the middle school level.
