A memorial Mass for former longtime Tarzana residents Judith and Robert Ebner, who died in last month’s EgyptAir 990 crash, will be held today at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

The Ebners lived in Tarzana for 30 years before retiring to Auburn in Northern California in 1995, said longtime family friend Hedy Mishkind.

Robert, 67, was an electrical engineer at Litton Industries in Woodland Hills for nearly four decades and his wife, Judith, 59, taught fifth grade at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth.

The couple have two daughters, Sharon, 32, and Julie, 30.

“They were going to celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary in Egypt,” Mishkind said.

“They decided to take the flight from New York because they wanted to spend a few days there visiting friends.”

Mishkind said the Ebners remained active after retiring.

Judith played the violin for the Auburn Symphony and Robert was involved with a program that delivered meals to homebound seniors.

“I’ve known them for 33 years, our kids grew up together,” Mishkind said. “This has been very difficult for everyone.”

The Mass will begin at noon at Our Lady of Grace, 5011 White Oak Ave. in Encino.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Judith be made to the Auburn Symphony, P.O. Box 7904, Auburn, CA 95604 and in memory of Robert to the Home Delivered Meals in care of the Senior Center, P.O. Box 968, Grass Valley, CA 94945.
