Michael B. Phelps, director of the Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center, will speak on the “The Dead Sea Scrolls: Separating Fact From Fiction” at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Temple Isaiah of Newport Beach. Cost is $5 for members and $10 for others. Phelps will discuss the scrolls’ discovery, contents and importance for understanding the formation of Rabbinic Judaism and the birth of Christianity.

The Newport Mesa Irvine Interfaith Council will present its “We Gather Together . . .” fifth annual Thanksgiving Choir Festival at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Choirs from St. Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church, Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church and Mesa Verde United Methodist Church will participate. Also performing will be the Episcopal Diocese Choir, Orangewood Academy Bell Choir and the Children’s Choir from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A “Love Without Honor” support group for abused women meets at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays at St. Mark Presbyterian Church.
