Verdugo Hills 32, Hollywood 20--After being benched in the first half for disciplinary reasons, Henry Davis ran for 140 yards and four touchdowns at Hollywood (0-10, 0-5).

Davis ran 50 yards in his first carry and for one yard and a touchdown four plays later for a 14-7 lead in the third quarter.

Hollywood’s ensuing drive lasted one play, with Neil Gossard intercepting a pass by Chris Colon at the Sheiks’ 45.

Davis capped the 11-play drive with a four-yard touchdown run. Sophomore Michael Tinker kept the drive alive by completing a seven-yard pass to John Tirres on fourth and four from the Hollywood 23.

Tinker completed 12 of 16 passes for 159 yards and one touchdown, a 32-yard pass play to Kevin Baird on the first possession for Verdugo Hills (4-6, 2-3).

It marked only the third time this season Verdugo Hills scored in double figures.

Verdugo Hills played without standout linebacker Michael Porter because of disciplinary reasons.

VALLEY MISSION LEAGUE

Monroe 50, Van Nuys 14--Running back Tyrone Burwell rushed for two touchdowns and quarterback Diego Barba threw for three to lead the Vikings at Van Nuys.

Burwell had 224 yards in nine carries, including an 83-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.

Van Nuys (1-9, 0-5) took an 8-6 lead with 29 seconds to play in the first quarter on Jose Zapata’s one-yard run and Yesel Manrique’s two-point conversion run.

Barba threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Phillips and a 49-yard touchdown toss to Steven Beltran for a 21-8 lead with 9:19 to go in the first half.

Barba’s final touchdown pass was a 15-yard throw to Beltran, who caught three passes for 74 yards.

Beltran, normally the starting quarterback, was penalized for excessive celebration and taunting, and was ejected with 1:11 to play.

Barba, a senior, completed five of seven passes for 137 yards and three touchdowns.
