The Toronto Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks were both struggling going into Monday night’s game at Toronto, so something had to give.

The Maple Leafs aren’t struggling anymore.

Yanic Perreault scored two goals to end an 11-game scoring drought as Toronto defeated San Jose, 4-2, to end a winless streak at five games. San Jose is 1-4-1 in its last six games.

“I’ve been struggling to get some goals the last few games,” Perreault said. “Tonight was good for my confidence. This was a big win for us and, hopefully, we can build on it.”

Jonas Hoglund and rookie Nik Antropov also scored for the Maple Leafs, who moved into a tie with the Ottawa Senators, the Kings and Detroit Red Wings for the overall NHL lead with 26 points.

Curtis Joseph stopped 28 shots for Toronto.

Colorado 2, Vancouver 2--Harry York scored with 51.6 seconds left in regulation to give the Canucks a tie with the Avalanche at Vancouver.

On the same play, the Canucks’ leading scorer, Alexander Mogilny, suffered a knee injury and had to be helped off the ice. He did not return.
