A pedestrian was killed and two others injured Monday in three separate traffic accidents around the San Fernando Valley, authorities said.
A 69-year-old Van Nuys woman died at Northridge Hospital Medical Center’s Sherman Way campus after being struck by a car about 5:10 p.m. as she jaywalked across Kester Avenue just north of Sherman Way, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Bill Justice.
Twenty minutes later, a 7-year-old North Hollywood boy was hit while crossing against a red light at Victory Boulevard and Radford Avenue, Justice said.
The boy suffered a broken leg and was airlifted to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Justice said.
About 6 p.m., Glendale police found an elderly man lying in the street in 300 block of North Verdugo Road, after he had apparently been struck by a vehicle. The 70-year-old Glendale resident was rushed to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where he was in critical condition, police said.
