PharmaPrint to Sell Products on Internet

PharmaPrint Inc., an Irvine herbal supplement maker that is losing its only major customer, said Friday that it plans to sell its products on the Internet and in markets outside the United States. The company said in a press release that its plans to expand into these and other new distribution channels will broaden its marketing base and boost revenue. PharmaPrint said it is in talks with major merchandisers to carry its dietary supplements, functional foods and pharmaceuticals derived from plant extracts. It also plans to expand into multilevel marketing and specialty markets. Last month, its major customer, American Home Products Corp., gave PharmaPrint notice that it intends to end a supply contract for PharmaPrint supplements sold under American Home’s Centrum label. Each company has since sued the other. PharmaPrint’s stock, which hit a high this year of $14.88 a share in February, closed Friday at $1.09, down 6 cents in Nasdaq trading.
