Westminster Man Kills Wife, Self
A Westminster father apparently shot his estranged wife and himself to death after an argument Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Dead are Luis Avellaneda, 45, of Westminster and Rosa Avellaneda, 42, of Huntington Beach.
According to police, their bodies were discovered about 3:30 p.m. at the husband’s home in the 5600 block of Rochelle Avenue by his 20-year-old stepson. After Rosa Avellaneda failed to pick up the couple’s 7-year-old son at school, the stepson was called to the school. “He realized something was wrong, went over to the residence and found them,” said Lt. Mike Schliskey, a spokesman for the Westminster Police Department.
Each had been shot once in the head, Schliskey said.
