Last week, the Orange County Water District Board of Directors voted to make it a goal to treat 100% of future Santa Ana River flows through constructed wetlands that provide natural water purification. This means water percolated into the Orange County ground-water basin for future use by approximately 2.2 million residents and businesses in north-central Orange County will be of higher quality than current levels, officials said. The goal is to improve water quality despite urban runoff and purified waste water discharges from San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
