UCI Men Rally to Tie in Soccer

UC Irvine, despite playing two men down through two overtime periods, forced a 3-3 tie with Loyola Marymount at the Titan men’s soccer classic Friday at Fullerton.

Eric Monterastelli scored twice for the Anteaters (3-5-1) and Saul Wolf scored in the 88th minute to force overtime.

Irvine faces San Diego Sunday.

In another tournament game:

San Diego 4, Cal State Fullerton 2--Levi Parker scored two goals within a five-minute span in the second half to break a 2-2 tie.

The Titans (7-2) took a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Duncan Oughton and Kris Hulgreen. San Diego is 8-1.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

UC San Diego 5, Chapman 1--Brady Bernard had two goals and two assists for host UC San Diego (6-3-1). Aaron Poling had an unassisted goal off a free kick in the 58th minute for Chapman (4-3-1).

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Loyola Marymount 1, Cal State Fullerton 0--Erin Fahey scored midway through the second half for host Loyola Marymount (8-2). Fullerton drops to 5-4.

UC San Diego 2, Chapman 0--Emma Borst and Erika Alfredson scored first-half goals for host UC San Diego (8-1-1). Chapman is 5-3.
