Longtime Ventura County resident Robert Hampson died Thursday at a Ventura hospital after a brief illness. He was 79.
Hampson was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Philadelphia.
He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1940-1944. He worked for General Electric as a graphic printer for 20 years and for the County of Ventura for 11 years before retiring in 1985.
Hampson is survived by his daughters, Linda Quigley of Buckeye, Ariz., and Lenore Peterson of Ojai; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Richard Hampson of Oxnard.
