Flyweight Isidro Garcia’s sharp performance in the main event saved what was otherwise a lackluster night of boxing Monday at the Arrowhead Pond. Garcia of Los Angeles earned a 10-round unanimous decision by outworking Oscar Andrade of Durango, Mexico, before an announced crowd of 2,963.

Garcia (19-1-1, five knockouts), ranked fourth by the World Boxing Organization, won his fifth straight fight since being knocked out at the Pond by Sammy Stewart nearly two years ago. Andrade (22-16) has lost four in a row, two to former world champions Michael Carbajal and Jesus Chong. Andrade was the aggressor most of the fight, but he wasn’t quick enough or strong enough to keep Garcia off him.

“My objective was to be on the inside and try to throw more punches,” Garcia said.

In the co-main event, junior middleweight Dwain Williams (17-3, 13 knockouts) of Los Angeles battered an outclassed Undra White (21-10, 17 knockouts) around the ring before referee Raul Caiz stopped the bout late in the fifth round. Caiz could have halted it in first round after Williams knocked White down with a vicious combination.

At the end of the second and fourth rounds, a groggy and bloody White walked back to the wrong corner. White, coming off a knockout loss to former world champion Vinny Pazienza, flailed at Williams with arm punches but rarely connected. The crowd and White were finally put out of their misery when Williams landed a big left hook and an overhand right.

In a 10-round light heavyweight bout, 41-year-old Wilson Smith (14-10, seven knockouts) of Cleveland was no match for popular Julio Gonzalez (19-0, 10 knockouts) of Huntington Beach.

Referee Vince Delgado finally called off Gonzalez after his wicked left hook sent Smith flying into the ropes at 1:59 of the third round.
