‘Harsh Realm’ in Virtual Debut

The fall season keeps unfolding this weekend with, among other things, new shows from Chris Carter and Julia Child.

Fox’s “Harsh Realm,” Friday at 9 p.m., is the latest series from “X-Files” creator Carter. Scott Bairstow stars as a soldier who is recruited to play a virtual reality game from which there is no escape.

Child, meanwhile, teams with fellow chef Jacques Pepin to offer new recipes on “Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home,” Saturday at 11 a.m. on KCET-TV.

Paget Brewster, Brian Van Holt, David Ogden Stiers and Swoosie Kurtz star in the CBS comedy “Love & Money,” Friday at 8:30 p.m. Brewster plays a rich socialite who falls for the super at her plush New York apartment building.

David Alan Grier is the host of the new improv comedy series “Random Acts of Comedy,” Friday at 10 p.m. on Fox Family.

CNN’s “Millennium,” Sunday at 7 and 10 p.m., is a 10-week documentary series chronicling major events of the 20th century. A&E;, meanwhile, serves up “Biography of the Millennium,” Sunday at 7 and 11 p.m., profiling the 100 most important people of the last 1,000 years. It concludes Monday at the same time.

Fox Family premieres its children’s series “Mega Babies,” Sunday at 9 p.m., about three orphans who become superheroes.

“The Merrow Report,” Sunday at 6 p.m on KCET-TV, looks at public education and the problem of unqualified teachers.

“Final Run,” the sequel to “Final Descent,” finds pilot “Lucky” Singer (Robert Urich) encountering more trouble aboard a computerized train, Sunday at 9 p.m. on CBS.
