The city attorney dished out a warning to the City Council on Tuesday after council members erupted into a debate over solutions to the downtown parking problem--an issue that was discussed and voted on last week.

At the end of Tuesday’s meeting, Councilman Steven C. Vargas brought up the matter and reopened the debate over whether it was right for the city to give a developer more money to continue building on a section of downtown. The rest of the council took turns arguing their sides, prompting City Atty. James L. Markman to warn the council that it was “creeping past” the boundaries of what could be discussed under the council announcement portion of the agenda.
