Mats Sundin set up Toronto’s first goal and then scored the eventual game-winner in the Maple Leafs’ 2-1 victory Wednesday night over the Colorado Avalanche at Toronto.

Sundin has three goals and three assists in helping lead Toronto to a 3-0 start.

Edmonton 2, Montreal 1--Defenseman Sean Brown scored the first goal of his NHL career midway through the third period as the Oilers defeated the visiting Canadiens.

Brown’s goal helped give Kevin Lowe, who won five Stanley Cups as a player with Edmonton, his first win as head coach of the Oilers.

St. Louis 4, Calgary 1--Defenseman Al MacInnis had a goal and an assist to help the Blues spoil the Flames’ home opener.

Vancouver 5, Chicago 4--Alexander Mogilny scored twice and Artem Chubarov scored the game-winner to lead the Canucks past the visiting Blackhawks.
