Favre Feels the Stress

The Green Bay Packers (2-1) would be 0-3 if not for quarterback Brett Favre, who has engineered two last-minute game-winning drives.

“I hope we don’t have to do this every week,” said the three-time most valuable player, who celebrates his 30th birthday Sunday with a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “It’s been well-documented that you can’t make a living doing it that way. I firmly believe that if you have to win games like that every week, you’ll give out. It’s just too hard. It’s too much stress.”

Speaking of stress, Coach Bobby Ross of the Detroit Lions faces his former team for the first time Sunday when the San Diego Chargers visit the Silverdome.

“What he has done for me and my career is never going to be forgotten,” Charger linebacker Junior Seau said of Ross, who led the Chargers to their only Super Bowl appearance before he was forced out nearly three years ago. “[But] this week, he’ll probably have my picture on a dart board.”

Will Ross also have Charger General Manager Bobby Beathard’s picture on the dart board?

“I have no comment on that,” Seau said.

Neither did Beathard.

“Anything I said would probably be taken the wrong way by somebody,” he said. “So I just won’t say anything.”
