Bicyclist Struck, Killed in Huntington Beach
A 29-year-old bicyclist riding on the wrong side of the street was struck and killed by a pickup truck driven by a suspected drunken driver in Huntington Beach, a police lieutenant said Friday.
Cory Riggs, 29, was hit by a pickup truck while southbound in the northbound lanes of Beach Boulevard near Blaylock Drive, said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Luis Ochoa.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after the 11:55 p.m. Thursday accident.
The driver of the pickup, Julia Alvarez, 31, of Chino, was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, Ochoa said.
