NEWPORT BEACH
Councilwoman Janice A. Debay was sworn in Monday as the new president of the Orange County League of Cities. She served on the Planning Commission for five years after moving to Newport Beach in 1979. In 1992, Debay, a former nurse and real estate agent, was elected to Newport’s City Council. Debay also serves on two other influential councils: the Orange County Sanitation District and the Housing Committee of the Southern California Assn. of Governments. Councilman Gary Adams said Debay’s newest role will benefit the city: “I think it’s going to be great for Newport and our voice and what goes on in the county.”
