SAN CLEMENTE
The City Council was expected to appropriate nearly $110,000 in federal grant money to hire an additional patrol deputy at Monday night’s council meeting.
The money, which comes from the state’s Citizens Option for Public Safety Programs legislation, is meant to supplement funding otherwise not available for local public safety and must be used only for “front-line municipal police services.”
The item appeared on the council’s consent calendar, meaning it is considered routine and not likely to require discussion before approval.
