What About the Dance?

Share

Lewis Segal must have been totally distracted during the San Francisco Ballet performance of “Giselle” (“Showy ‘Giselle’ Hides Its Feelings,” Oct. 8). Most of his review consisted of complaining about the expensive-looking sets and costumes.

Yes, it is disgraceful that Los Angeles does not support a ballet company, and San Francisco seems to have plenty of money for incidentals. Ballet, however, is first and foremost about dancing, and the dancing at this performance was well executed, moving and very entertaining. It does not serve your readers to write a review so clearly jealous of another city’s success.
