Littlerock 9, Quartz Hill 8--Chris Marrero blocked a 38-yard field goal attempt by Quartz Hill’s Kyle Gookins with 11 seconds left to preserve the Lobos’ victory at Littlerock.
Littlerock (5-1, 1-0) led, 9-8, at halftime after reserve kicker Sean Cross booted a 23-yard field goal with 6:22 left in the second quarter. Cross, a sophomore, was forced into action after Ernesto Narez was injured on the opening kickoff.
Quartz Hill (2-4, 0-1) marched 65 yards in 12 plays on the opening drive. Joe Lopez scored on a four-yard touchdown run with 5:59 left in the first quarter.
Littlerock, defending league champion, answered quickly when running back Rodney Woods ran 47 yards for a touchdown with 4:14 remaining in the first quarter.
Woods finished with 141 yards in 16 carries.
